Present at the 97th edition of the SOFCOT (French Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery) congress in Paris, the Robert Debré University Hospital presented a retrospective and comparative study demonstrating the effectiveness of COLLAPATII® in osteotomies of the lower limb in pediatric orthopedics . An osteotomy of the lower limb is a surgical procedure which consists of sectioning the tibia or, more rarely, the femur and straightening it in order to correct a deformity. This type of surgery can be complicated by delay or lack of union, preventing early recovery of patients.
Between 2021 and 2022, 37 patients underwent lower limb osteotomy using COLLAPATII®. A radiographic analysis was retrospectively carried out on the images taken 6 weeks post-operatively and compared to 37 patients operated on between 2016 and 2021 without COLLAPATII® (control group).
The radiological analysis showed better consolidation at 6 weeks in the osteotomies of the distal femur, the pelvic osteotomies and in the lengthening nails in the group with COLLAPATII®.
